CONSTITUTION OF THE UNION COLLEGE SCIENCE CLUB
Science Club Registration Form Letters of Recommendation
Article I. Name.
The name of the organization shall be the Union College Science Club.
Article II. Statement of Purpose.
A. To stimulate interest in the Sciences.
B. To disseminate scientific information through lectures, seminars, and discussion.
C. To provide information concerning graduate study and vocational opportunities in the sciences.
D. To promote closer fellowship and understanding among science students and faculty.
E. To acquire or gain more practical experience through lab exercises, field trips, volunteer services, and attending scientific meetings (ACS, FASEB).
Article III. Criterion for Membership.
Any student, faculty, or staff member interested in the various areas of study associated with the Natural Science Department of Union College.
Article IV. Amendment of Constitution.
A. Notification of the proposed amendment must be made at least two
days prior to voting.
B. Amendment must be made and seconded and must be carried by a two-thirds majority of the membership present at the regularly scheduled meeting.

BY-LAWS
Para. A. Meetings.
1. Meetings will be held monthly at a date, time, and place to be voted on
by a simple majority of the members present at the April meeting.
2. Special meetings may be called by the President or functional
committees through the President.
Para. B. Offices and Duties of Officers.
1. President will preside over meetings and coordinate activities of the club.
2. Public Relations officer will preside over meetings in absence of the President. Will be a member of all committees, be in charge of publicity, and will be responsible for reporting all committee action to the President.
3. Secretary will be in charge of taking minutes at meetings
4. Treasurer will be in charge of collecting dues and dispensing monies in conjunction with the President.
Para C. Nomination and Election of Officers.
1. Nomination of Officers.
A. Nominations will be made by a nominating committee consisting of the President, Sponsor, and one member will be elected from the floor in April each year.
B. Nominations from the floor must be made and seconded.
2. Method of voting by ballot.
Votes will be taken by secret ballot when necessary.
3. Election.
A. Election and the induction of Officers-elect will be held in April.
B. Officers will be elected by a simple majority of the members present at the April meeting.
Para D. Committees.
1. Standing Committees.
A. Special Events Committees.
1. This committee shall coordinate any special events that the club chooses to plan or participate in, such as science fairs, field trips, science days (Mole day, Pi day, Biology week), etc.
B. Committee on Dissemination of Information Concerning Graduate Fields of Study.
1. This committee shall collect and provide information for members concerning the graduate fields of study, procedures for entering such fields of study, and vocational opportunities.
2. This Special Events committee shall be composed of three (3) members. The committee shall be appointed by the President.
C. Committee in Charge of Lecture Programs.
1. This committee shall plan programs and help to secure lecturers with the help of the major professor in the field involved.
2. The committee shall consist of three (3) members.
Para E. Dues.
1. Dues will be set by the majority vote at the first meeting of each academic year.
2. Dues will be deposited with the business office or into a bank account no later than October 31 of each year.
Para. F. Sponsor.
The Sponsor will be nominated at the April meeting of each academic year by student members. Election by simple majority will be held by ballot in April for a term of one (1) academic year.
